The reason people say this is because their brain has a mental imprint that says... what you see in the mirror is real. Actually it's not... the only way you will see what you really look like in pictures. It is very important to take before and after pictures to keep track of progress. You can look in the mirror and get on the scale every hour and you still will not see what you truly look like if you don't take pictures.
Some people take pictures every 15 days, some every 30 days. I took my pictures every 30 days. I know when I first started I thought I was overweight but I never saw the same image in the mirror that I saw in the before picture. For 2 weeks I stared into the mirror... stayed on the scale and seemed like I was making little to no progress with P90X. I stopped doing that after two weeks out of frustration. The funny this is I actually lost 17 pounds in the first month.
So make sure you take pictures, they show true results and inspire others.
